CareerBuilder India talks to Vijender Singh Kadyan, Sales Associate Head HR and Chief Administration, C.Krishniah Chetty & Sons, which is 145 year old jewellery house based in Bangalore, India. Mr. Kadyan is working for over 6 years with the company and holds vast experience in the HR industry. He shares his vast knowledge and a deep insight on the hiring process that the company follows. What are the things you keep in mind before hiring talent?
“As far as hiring is concerned, we are hiring from across the country based on the needs of the company. We have people from North, South, West and East and that’s why lots of diverse views contribute in the development of the company. Now, as far as hiring in concerned, we give it lot of importance because it’s employees who make the company; we consider each employee as the future of the company which builds the company.”
What are the methods via which you recruit talent?
“We have various methods to recruit. That’s through portal, through reference, through net, though naukri & other portals. Based on social network, we are hiring people from LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.”
What kind of talent fits best in the jewelry industry?
“We cater for each need of the customer. Therefore, customer comes and whatever quality of diamonds they require, we procure that. However to design that, we need a great designing team; so, we have people from across various countries as designers working with us, who sits with us and caters for the need of the customers.”
Do you prefer mass hiring?
“Yes, we do it in colleges. We mostly get the people from the colleges for sales; however as far as designers are concerned that we have to get from NIFT or institutes dealing in Jewelry industry.”
Do you think social media and mobile are playing a vital role in recruiting talent?
“In today’s world, you’ll see a mobile in every young man’s hand and this is playing a very important role. Being a very old company, every individual in Bangalore & Karnataka specially knows about our company ‘C.Krishniah Chetty & Sons’, therefore they do send the resumes on specially LinkedIn. They contact us and approach us.”
