Well, the kind of problems that the recruiters are facing in hiring the right candidate at the right time has made it a necessity to hire the candidates via social media. Yes, it’s true!
Specially, if we look at one of the biggest challenges that the recruiters are facing today then that relates to hiring women candidate. It is clear from the recent Pan-India survey conducted by My Parichay in March 2014 that “Women tend to be more passive in their job seeking efforts and rely more on social connects and word of mouth than men.” Also, according to the survey, “83% of people looking for a job said that they use Facebook while only 36% selected LinkedIn as their Primary choice.”
Also, if we look at other figures of LinkedIn users, then it has only 1.6 million total women users in India, out of which the age groups 18-24 ad 25-44 both have 0.8 million users each.
Here are few other interesting findings of the survey:
- Since approx 90 million users are active on Facebook today, 9 out of 10 recruiters believe that hiring tools based on Facebook would give them a competitive edge in gender diversity hiring.
- For recruiters, gender diversity hiring has become one of the key challenges, and for that, they are in search of such specialized tools.
- 9 out of 10 companies said that they would adopt tools that would make it easy to target & connect with qualified women professionals. Also, there are only 2 out of 10 companies, which are presently using tools that allows gender diversity hiring.
Based on this survey, one can clearly conclude that for gender diversity hiring, social platform seems to be one of the best available platform, and in a way has simply become a necessity rather than a trendy way of hiring.
Moreover, to hire the right candidate, the recruiters today utilize the social networks for various stages, i.e. searching for the candidate, contacting the suitable prospects and keeping tabs on the potential ones, vetting candidates pre-interview and even for posting jobs.
